I’m so glad that you found your way here. I’m Chiara, vegan pastry chef and creator of this website!
I was born and raised in beautiful Italy and have lived in Brighton and Hove, England, since 2019 before moving to Portugal in 2022!
I have a degree in Design and Fashion, but after many years working in the fantastic world of entertainment, I had my call in the kitchen world 🙂 soon after, I became vegan in 2010.
I was born into a big and boisterous Sicilian family, and the first thing I learned was to eat well.
Everybody in my family has excellent cooking skills; eating for us is sacred, and everything starts with choosing the ingredients.
I integrated this knowledge into my pastry-making. I aim to create desserts that are so good that nobody will miss animal products. My desserts are my form of activism for animal liberation.
When I decided to leave my career in the entertainment industry, supported by my whole family, I started as a pastry chef.
I did a one-year pastry chef course in Turin at Ratatouille patisserie, and after that, I worked at Grezzo Raw Chocolate with Vito Cortese, the Italian king of the raw patisserie.
In 2016, together with two vegan friends, I opened my vegan bakery in Rome called Wani (We Are Not Ingredients).
Then my journey of life brought me to Brighton. I had the pleasure to work for Loui Blake at Erpingham House, side by side with amazing chefs like Jason Wood and Laura Louise Oates. And with my dear friend and alchemist chef Amy Hiller for our project To The Moon and Snack.
Today I put the knowledge I’ve acquired to good use, creating even more delicious and beautiful desserts for everybody.
